Player Notes
Alex Rodriguez (calf) indicated Friday that he is still dealing with soreness in his calf and doesn't expect to play over the final two games of the season.

Advice: If he is indeed shut down for the remainder of the season, he will finish with a .244/.348/.423 line with seven homers, 19 RBI and four stolen bases. The owner of 654 career home runs and 1969 RBI, he now may be forced to sit on those numbers until the beginning of the 2015 season.

Alex Rodriguez's spokesman, Ron Berkowitz, confirmed that his client will be in Houston this weekend.

Advice: The New York Daily News reported Wednesday afternoon that Rodriguez would skip the final series of the season to prepare for his arbitration hearing, but that's not the case. "Certain publications have continued to report inaccurate information about Alex. Alex will be in Houston as expected," wrote Berkowitz.

A person close to Alex Rodriguez told Joel Sherman of the New York Post that the veteran third baseman will be in Houston this weekend.

Advice: The New York Daily News ran a report on Thursday afternoon claiming that A-Rod had received permission to skip the Yankees' season-ending series against the Astros to prepare for his Monday arbitration hearing. But Yankees GM Brian Cashman immediately said that report was "not accurate" and now A-Rod's camp appears to be agreeing.

Yankees GM Brian Cashman told Andy McCullough of the Newark Star-Ledger that Alex Rodriguez has not asked permission to skip the Yankees' final series.

Advice: A recent report in the New York Daily News stated that A-Rod had asked for and received permission to miss the Yankees' three-game weekend set in Houston to prepare for his 211-game suspension hearing, which begins on Monday. But the Yankees' general manager said Thursday afternoon that the report is "not accurate." More drama, folks.

Alex Rodriguez will skip the Yankees' final regular-season series to prepare for his arbitration hearing.

Advice: A-Rod got permission from the Yankees on Thursday to miss the three-game weekend set in Houston. He and his attorneys will be in New York on Monday to begin arguing against the 211-game PED suspension that was handed down by Major League Baseball last month. The 38-year-old third baseman batted .244/.348/.423 with seven home runs and 19 RBI in 44 games this season for the Bombers.

Alex Rodriguez launched a grand slam to lead the Yankees to a 5-1 victory over the Giants on Friday.

Advice: A-Rod entered Friday's action in a 1-for-21 funk, but he busted out of his slump in dramatic fashion. The grand slam was the 24th of his career, passing Lou Gehrig for first all-time. He has seven home runs and 18 RBI in 40 games this season.
