Del Toro, Cuaron, and Inarritu Partners Up with Universal

Written by Nix May 20, 2007 Posted In » News

Individually they’ve conquered Hollywood and then some, and now together, arguably Mexico’s three most accomplished directors, Guillermo Del Toro (“Pan’s Labyrinth”), Alfonso Cuaron (“Children of Men”), and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu (“Babel”) have joined forces to form a production company (called Cha Cha Cha, no less), from which they will produce five movies for Universal Pictures, who will front the $100 million in production costs. Some of the films will be in Spanish, but not all of them. It’s smart of them not to pigeonhole themselves. Combined, the three writer/directors scored 16 nominations in the 2006 Academy Awards.
