THE GROUP campaigning against home and water taxes has had a split in its ranks, with some claiming they have 'become what is effectively a political party'.
A breakaway group, calling themselves the Independent Drogheda/Mid Louth CAHWT (Campaign Against Home and Water Taxes), has now been established to oppose the original group.
'The Independent Drogheda/Mid Louth CAHWT is 100% non-political and will not be running or endorsing any candidates in any election,' says acting chairman for the new group Anthony Connor.
The breakaway group says it is now the official CAHWT group in Drogheda, and they 'urge people to get behind us for a non-political campaign'.
'This campaign is a people's movement and probably the biggest this country has ever seen,' he adds.
