4.5/5 stars

What a truly wonderful movie.

Subtitled from French, it is a story that is uplifting and inspiring.

It is such a pity that more cinematic offerings don't have the depth and quality on show here.

Philippe (Francois Cluzet) is a rich businessman with real spirit.

But a hang-gliding accident has left him paralysed from the neck down and he needs around-the-clock care.

Seeking a male physical assistant to help him through his day, Philippe meets Driss (Omar Sy).

Driss doesn't want to work for him - he just wants some paperwork signed so he can continue to get his state benefits.

Driss is a rough, streetwise individual who very much calls a spade a spade.

Philippe likes this about him and shocks everyone around him by appointing Driss.

And so begins a special bond that transcends the cultural divide between the two men.

They become good friends and benefit from each other's personal qualities.

Driss' direct style allows him to break down some of the barriers Philippe had built around himself after his accident.

He teaches Philippe how to truly enjoy life again and how to take chances.

Have a wander into Philippe's world and you'll come away inspired.
