Grandchildren bring courtesy and humour
A reader writes: "After a long lecture to my children about behaving themselves while they stayed at their Nana's for the week I ended my lecture informing them: 'Nana is getting old and it would be nice if you offered to help her with things.' The next day I received a text from my very amused Mum informing me my youngest had proudly told her that he'd 'do anything to help an old lady'."
Wrong address catches police out
Debbie got more than what she bargained for when she bought her new house: "In regards to getting mail that does not belong to anyone at your address, we also had this happen. It started just after buying our current house and certainly wasn't the prior owner who had been there several years. I sent a few back to sender, but they kept coming. Eventually I just started throwing them out, but this didn't work so well with the police who also began turning up late at night looking for this person. My favourite part was that the police didn't seem to believe me so would come back super early in the morning to see if they could catch us out! It took the police about seven visits before they finally gave up."
Lost and found
Terry writes: Last night a radio controlled helicopter landed in the paddock next to our house on Redoubt Rd, Manukau, near Totara Park. It is a T-04 T-Series. If the owner could identify it we would be happy to return it to them. Could the owner please contact Sideswipe for our details.
Cashing in on bad maths
Alan took his wife and grandsons to McDonald's for lunch on Sunday. "My wife noticed the special deal on macaroons on the electronic noticeboard - $1.50 for one macaroon or six for $10. Go on, work it out. Is this a scam or does someone not know how to multiply?"
