David Mackenzie - General Manager

David is responsible for the strategic and commercial direction of the Bay of Plenty Times and seven community titles – Bay News, Te Puke Times, Katikati Advertiser, Waihi Leader, Whangamata Coastal News, Hamilton News and Te Awamutu Courier - located across the Bay of Plenty, Coromandel and Waikato. David has over 20 years’ media experience in print and online, in New Zealand and the UK. David is a keen mountain biker and enjoys spending time with his family in the Bay.


Samantha Dowling - Marketing Manager

As the Bay of Plenty Times marketing manager Samantha is responsible for increasing circulation, readership, and enhancing the Bay of Plenty Times brand over a diverse range of markets. Samantha chose to live in sunny Mount Maunganui after she returned 3 years ago from her travels around the UK, Europe and Australia. Samantha is enjoying being back in New Zealand and living close to the beach.


Margaret Turner - Advertising Manager

Margaret’s 26 year newspaper career has been in advertising sales and management across titles in Hamilton, Taupo, Turangi, Rotorua and joining the Bay of Plenty Times in 2012. Working alongside her advertising team she is looking forward to meeting many business owners in our region. Outside of work you will most likely find Margaret fishing or working on her kiwifruit orchard.


Jennie Black - Communities Sales Manager

Jennie started her 28 year career at the Bay of Plenty Times in advertising sales, feature team leadership and now managing four community titles in Te Puke, Katikati, Waihi and Whangamata. She is on the road alot and enjoys driving her well knitted teams as an integral component to the daily. Jen loves fishing, beach life, calligraphy and spending time with her daughter Sydnee and her small dogs.

Scott Inglis- Editor

Scott started his media career nearly 24 years ago and has spent the past decade working in the Bay of Plenty. In his spare time, he enjoys running and spending time with family.


Dylan Thorne -Deputy Editor

Dylan started working as journalist 15 years ago. He worked at a number of newspapers, including the Southland Times and the Northern Advocate, before moving to the Bay of Plenty. He enjoys surfing and spending time with his family in his spare time.


Michele McPherson- Chief Reporter

Michele has nine years' experience in journalism and has been at the Bay of Plenty Times since 2007. She loves the challenge of working in a busy newsroom, where no two days are the same. Born in Tauranga, Michele enjoys the chance to bring readers fresh, local news in her home town.


Martine Rolls - Online Editor

Martine has been a journalist and writer for about 20 years and she's been making websites work for more than 12 years. She has a passion for everything online, especially breaking news coverage and social media. She’s been the online editor for the Bay of Plenty Times since August 2010.


Annemarie Quill - Magazine Editor

Annemarie is editor of indulge, the Saturday lifestyle magazine of the Weekend Bay of Plenty Times. She is also editor of Vibe, the Thursday entertainment liftout. Annemarie lives in Tauranga with her partner Lance, a builder for Shaw Builders, and her three children Lily, nine, Jack, seven and Poppy, five. In her spare time she is writing a best seller.


John Borren - Chief Photographer

Thirty years as a press photographer, John has been back in the Bay since 2001 and loving the lifestyle that Tauranga offers. "There's no better place to work and play".


Jo Raphael - Design and Production Editor

Jo is the design and production editor for the Bay of Plenty Times. Jo was born and bred in the Bay of Plenty and is passionate about making the best local product for readers. Jo has been a journalist for the past seven years and loves working in a busy newsroom.


Peter White - Sport Photojournalist

Peter is a life long sports nut and just loves meeting sportspeople and telling their stories. He is a graduate of Tauranga Boys' College, Waikato University and AUT University.
