Forensic testing of Mount P lab nearly done

A forensic examination of a house in Mount Maunganui that was the scene of an explosion yesterday is almost complete. Investigators will then spend the remainder of today searching the property.

A large number of items consistent with the manufacture of methamphetamine have been located at the Ocean Beach Road house. A significant indoor cannabis grow has also been located with approximately 40 to 50 plants at various stages of maturity.

The 57-year-old man who was taken to hospital from the address with burns remains in a critical condition in Waikato Hospital.

Enquiries are continuing in relation to other people involved.
