Te Puke's kiwifruit orchards 99pc infected

Seven of Te Puke's 1090 kiwifruit orchards remain free from Psa.

At 99 per cent, the region has the highest Psa infection rate in the country.

Waihi has the next highest infection rate (84 per cent), followed by Whakatane (78 per cent).

Psa infection has reached 100 per cent of the main five kiwifruit varieties in Te Puke, while other varieties record an infection rate of 72 per cent.

No new orchards were found to have been infected with Psa last week.
