Stretch for running success

Okay, so all you guys out there, it's not just for girls or yoga instructors or random bendy people. Stretching is actually a really important part of your training routine for running. Will you really notice a difference if you don’t stretch? Not necessarily for the first few weeks, but then it will hit you.
What will inevitably happen if you don’t stretch?
- Your muscles will all seem tighter
- You will be more prone to injury
- The legs will literally begin to fail on you on your long runs - something no runner wants to deal with, so stretch, stretch stretch all the way
- Injury will lead to pain, so for a pain-free body, stretch
Remember:
- Don’t overstretch
- Don’t rush your stretches
- Don’t bounce the stretches
Here is Siobhan Byrne's guide to warming up the dynamic way before a run and cooling down afterwards:
