Police concerned about missing Katikati man

UPDATED: 5.02pm:

Missing Katikati man Frank John Knowles has been found safe and well.

The 83-year-old was found by his son-in-law in Whangarei, where he left for on Tuesday morning.

Police released a missing person report this afternoon, after concern Mr Knowles had not arrived at his grand daughter's home in Auckland as planned.

Mr Knowles was going to travel on to his daughter's home in Whangarei but failed to arrive, which was out of character.

It is not yet known why the man did not arrive at his daughter's home as planned.

Frank John Knowles (83) of Katikati has not been seen since yesterday morning.

Mr Knowles left his home address in Katikati at 10am yesterday, 26 March, intending to travel to his granddaughter in Auckland.

Arrangements had been made for him to have dinner there and stay overnight before driving to Whangarei today to his daughter's address.

Mr Knowles had never been to his granddaughter's address before but he was provided with full details.

He is described as being of sound mind and very capable of finding his way to the address.   

Mr Knowles was not in the habit of driving great distances but he is described as a cautious driver and normally very organised, "a creature of habit".

He was driving baby blue coloured 1996 Honda Accord LXI Auto saloon registration number UN1109.

The following clothing description has been provided for Mr Knowles: possibly wearing  brown trousers, a shirt and running type shoes.

There are concerns for his safety as his family have not seen or heard from him since he left Katikati at 10am. This is out of character.
