About Us

The Bay of Plenty Times, bayofplentytimes.co.nz and their associated publications are the driving forces behind the Western Bay of Plenty’s premier multimedia publishing business, serving readers both in print and online.

The newspaper and website bring readers the best and most up-to-date local news, sport and features, local community news, as well as the best of national and world news, business and rural, property and entertainment. They are also leaders in providing a platform for local advertising.

One of our flagship products is the Bay of Plenty Times Weekend, which is delivered to subscribers and on sale in shops first thing Saturday mornings. The Bay of Plenty Times Weekend has major coverage of local news and opinion, including high-profile Bay columnists, obituaries, world section, sports, business, employment and classified advertising, and a local features section that gives readers the inside story on important issues. A section is also devoted to property and commercial.

The Bay of Plenty Times Weekend also features a pull-out magazine, titled indulge, which focuses on lifestyle, food, fashion, beauty, people, the local social scene as well as television and entertainment.

The Bay of Plenty Times was first published 139 years ago. Today the publishing business has more than 100 fulltime staff and more than 250 delivery personnel.

The Bay of Plenty Times, including the weekend edition, is read on average by 44,000* people a day, making it the region's highest read daily newspaper. The website is a fast-growing digital platform providing up to date news and breaking news.

Both the paper and website are published by APN New Zealand’s Waikato-Bay of Plenty publishing unit, which also produces eight free community newspapers and a bi-monthly Business Times publication.
