THE NEW GEORGIA ENCYCLOPEDIA is a project of the Georgia Humanities Council in partnership with the University of Georgia Press, the University System of Georgia/GALILEO, and the Office of the Governor. The NGE is a work in progress, and because of the generous support of our sponsors and partners, our content is continually growing and updated, and is accessible to everyone. Read more....

SOME BIG CHANGES The oil painting Georgia Red Clay(25" x 30") ARE COMING to the New Georgia Encyclopedia! In early 2013, we will unveil a completely redesigned site. We'll still have all the content you have come to rely on, plus new and updated entries and features, improved functionality, and a richer multimedia environment.

This fall, as we complete our work in developing the new site, the current site will remain available for use. During this time we will not be adding new content or updating existing content. We invite you, however, to continue submitting your comments and corrections to us, so that we can make the necessary adjustments to the new site.

Thank you for your support of the New Georgia Encyclopedia and for your patience during this transition. We look forward to unveiling the new site to you in the very near future!
