Message from Ambassador Michael A. McFaul

My fellow Americans in Russia,

Having just completed my first week in the office as the new U.S. Ambassador to the Russian Federation, I wanted to reach out to you – the American community in Russia – to offer my personal greetings.  As with other U.S. ambassadors around the world, the protection of American citizens and their interests is my top priority.  I want to reiterate my personal commitment to you, as well as the commitment of my colleagues at the Embassy in Moscow and our Consulates General throughout Russia, to help ensure your safety and security.

I also want to express my appreciation for your key role in our efforts to strengthen ties between Russians and Americans.   As American citizens living, working, studying, or visiting the Russian Federation, you have the unique opportunity to serve as goodwill ambassadors – representing America to more Russians than we can reach through our work at the Embassy.  You are the conduit for mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and enhanced trade cooperation. The positive representation of the United States you bring to Russia makes the relationship between our two countries more productive, enriching, and secure.

I will make a lot of speeches as Ambassador, but more importantly, I’ll do a lot of listening.  I welcome your thoughts about the U.S.-Russia relationship. Please let me know if there is anything my staff and I can do to assist you.  I invite you to follow my personal blog and Twitter profile, and hope you will regularly access our Facebook site for new information from the Embassy for American citizens.  To learn more about me, please see my introductory video.

I look forward to meeting you in Moscow and in my travels around Russia!

Your Ambassador,

Michael A. McFaul
