  • n'aschi—(Also spelled nashi.) The Arabic name for a northeasterly wind that occurs in winter on the Iranian coast of the Persian Gulf, especially near the entrance to the gulf and also on the Makran coast.
    It is probably of the bora type, though less strong, representing the outflow of cold air from central Asia. The n'aschi is part of the Asiatic monsoon system.

  • nadir—1. Satellite subpoint on the earth's surface that is centered directly below the satellite.
    This is also referred to as the point of zero nadir angle for a satellite in earth orbit. 2. The point on a given observer's celestial sphere diametrically opposite his zenith, that is, directly below the observer.
