Objectives and actions
The World Heritage Committee, in its Budapest Declaration (2002), has defined strategic objectives for the development of activities relating to PACT. These are the « 4 C » :
- Strengthen the Credibility of the World Heritage List, as a representative and geographically balanced testimony of cultural and natural properties of outstanding universal value;
- Ensure the effective Conservation of World Heritage properties;
- Promote the development of effective Capacity-building measures, including assistance for preparing the nomination of properties to the World Heritage List, and implementation of the World Heritage Convention and related instruments;
- Increase public awareness, involvement and support for World Heritage through Communication.
Preservation of properties inscribed on the List of World Heritage sites in Danger is a priority for the development of partnerships.
Finally, a series of thematic programmes have been developed to implement priority actions for the conservation of World Heritage properties for which assistance, both financial and technical, is required. These programmes are:
