Its mightiness and magnificence bespeak a pomp and a luxury surpassing that of a Pharaoh or a Shah Jahan, an impressiveness greater than that of the Pyramids, an artistic distinctiveness as fine as that of the Taj Mahal. « less

We arrived before sunrise to take photos of the sun coming up behind this magnificent building....... we were not disappointed, absolutely magnificent. Returned on other occasions to wander the grounds and through the buildings.

Better than the National Geographic pictures. Do yourself a favor and catch a great sunrise and sunset over the temple. You won't regret :)

If you're going to visit Cambodia it would be completely pointless to do so if you did not visit Angkor Wat. And a tip for couples - my fiance proposed here in the south library, which is quiet and rarely gets visitors, who normally walk straight past it.

Get to the main sites early in the morning to avoid the crowds, then visit the not so well know sites like Prah Kahn. A "Tuk-Tuk" for the day is very affordable.

My wife and I were in Siem Reap for 6 days and had the immense pleasure of Yut as a guide for 2 of those days. Before we arrived we arranged everything with him via email. (Just a note: Yut's mastery of the English language was fantastic.) For two days Yut met us with a tuk tuk at 7am at...

I have been reading about Angkor Wat for the past 4 decades and had formed my own opinion about the monument. Finally, when I saw it on 31st October, 2011, I found it mind boggling - the sheer size, the architecture and grandeur of the monument was most impressive. The South Indian influence is unmistakeable - the design of the...

It´s kind of hard to believe Angkow wat when you first see it. It´s huge, it´s beautiful, it´s ancient, what else can you ask for.
