Its mightiness and magnificence bespeak a pomp and a luxury surpassing that of a Pharaoh or a Shah Jahan, an impressiveness greater than that of the Pyramids, an artistic distinctiveness as fine as that of the Taj Mahal. « less

Angkor is just as you expect. Big, majestic and generally very impressive. We went for sunrise, which to be honest wasn't really worth it. You think it's just going to be you and a few others - try a couple of hundred others. In the end we left the 'sunrise photo spot' and went into the temple before the crowds... More

We arrived at the Angkor Wat at 5am to see the sunrise with our guide 'Dee' and driver (Roka from the Borei Angkor Resort and Spa). Unfortunately for the 500 other people and us it was a cloudy day so it was not as spectacular as we would have liked. However we were not disappointed. The Angkor Wat is amazing.... More

This is a huge place. Much larger than you expect. Take a hat and cool drink for sure. Expect bus loads and large groups. Though you can move away from them by choosing to walk around various buildings or in the opposite direction. More

The history of the place is just amazing. The carvings and teh height at which they were built - just a wonder of the world! More

I was expecting a temple with more detail but perhaps I should have read more about the impact of the various conflicts on the state of the temple. Many figures were defaced which makes it less interesting to wander around. Quite busy. Enjoyed smaller temples much more. More

During my visit to Cambodia I found that getting around the city was easiest on a "tuk tuk". A cart pulled by a scooter. This guy was fantastic. Well spoken English, very knowledgeable about the history and culture and knew great places to eat. I'd recommend Sokhom to anyone. He has a website as well that gives more information. www.tuktukatsiemreap.co.cc... More

My family spent a weekend in Ho Chi Minh City, Siem Reap and Bangkok. Although HCMC proved to be much better than I expected and Bangkok proved to be worse, it was Siem Reap's Angkor that stole the show. Angkor Wat is just one of the temples in Angkor Thom, but it is the most well-preserved. Together with the Bayon... More

This has been on our bucket list forever, and it didn't disappoint. Amazing. The pictures do not do it justice. We did Angkor Wat and Bayon the first day. If you want to ride the elephants at Bayon, get there early- by noon they are sold out for the day. You can buy a three-day pass for $40- that way... More

We had a great English speaking tour guide who would like to arrange more individual tours for customers. He was very knowledgable about the temples. His name is Bunkak. He can be reached at bunhak2004@yahoo. com More
