Amy Smart Is Somewhere Between the Oregon Trail and the Moon

Photo: Frazer Harrison/Getty Images

Amy Smart attended last night's Hollywood premiere of The Help wearing a floaty long-sleeved black dress with a twee floral print. She added a brown leather belt and silver Dolce & Gabbana accessories — a large clutch and a pair of ankle boots.

Are these metallic accessories too space-age for her prairie-style dress? Or do they add a nice modern edge?

Children’s T-Shirts Printed With ‘Nothing Tastes as Good as Skinny Feels’ Banned in U.K.

A British clothing website called Zazzle was forced to remove a range of kids' T-shirts screened with the slogan "Nothing Tastes as Good as Skinny Feels" because the Advertising Standards Authority deemed them "harmful to children." Famous for being referenced by Kate Moss during an interview in 2009, the quote is said to promote eating disorders. "If you read any of the pro-anorexia websites, they go crazy for quotes like these," said former model Katie Green, who helped launch the Say No To Size Zero campaign in England. [Telegraph UK]

Betsey Johnson Loves Kate Middleton

"She’s so beautiful and I think she’s handling the whole kit & kaboodle so well. I appreciate their hard try and all of their efforts to attempt to have a more ‘real’ lifestyle," she said after Vivienne Westwood's second round of less-than-loving comments about the duchess were published. And of her wedding gown: "I was so happy when she chose Alexander McQueen! If she didn’t do that, I don’t know." Right? [Hollywood Life]

Banana Republic’s Mad Men Collection Is Now Available

Everything is currently available online, and should hit stores within the next few days, according to the retailer's press release.

Slideshow: Stars Wearing Dolce & Gabbana’s Stars

This past spring season Dolce & Gabbana showed a bright, lighthearted collection, including lots of star-patterned gowns and separates. And stars themselves, from the A-List to, well, Kim Kardashian, have been wearing the line out, pun intended, perhaps just to remind us all of their status — like we could ever really forget. Click through our slideshow to view some images of the stars-wearing-stars spotted so far, with as many badGREAT star-themed puns as we could muster. Just try to decide who has the most star quality.

Vogue, the Only Magazine of Its Kind With Increased Newsstand Sales So Far This Year

For the first half of the year, newsstand sales for women's fashion titles were down across the board — except for Vogue, who has Lady Gaga to thank for driving up March sales by more than 100,000 copies from the same month last year, when Tina Fey was on the cover. The magazine's monthly newsstand sales averaged 360,400 copies, up 12.7 percent from last year. While Allure was flat, every other title in the category experienced a decline. Overall, women's fashion titles were down an average of 9.2 percent. The numbers by title:

Marie Claire - down 21.5 percent; average sales of 198,752.
Glamour - down 17.5 percent; average sales of 453,707 copies.
Harper's Bazaar - down 14.3 percent; average sales of 137,117 copies.
People StyleWatch - down 11.8 percent
W - down 11.8 percent
Elle - down 9 percent; average sales of 250,056 copies.
Lucky - down 9 percent; average sales of 150,271 copies.
InStyle - down 8 percent; average sales of 570,272 copies.
Vogue - up 12.7 percent; average sales of 360,400 copies.

Forever 21 Is Accused of Pushing a Christian Agenda

The offenders.Photo: Courtesy of Forever 21

Rachel Kane, also known as the blogger behind WTForever21.com who faced down the fast-fashion behemoth earlier this year, recently noticed that the retailer sells a lot of preachy, Christian-inspired merchandise. She found this particularly creepy because the Chang family, who owns and runs Forever 21, is notoriously devout.

See the Missoni for Target Collection

In an interesting new form of online marketing, Target has decided to release all news about its Missoni line launching next month through the blog, All the Way Up Here. Its author describes herself thusly: "I'm little Marina and I'm a real doll. That’s right, joints, hinges and all. And like every doll, I'm obsessed with everything stylish in the world. So that's what my blog is all about. I hope you enjoy the view." Her musings on her role as the mouthpiece for the collection include: "So after a few conversations with my new BFF Margherita Maccapani Missoni — don’t be jealous — I’m realizing how awesome my job is. I mean, I am the working girl for Missoni and Target covering Margherita’s exclusive new line at Target. It’s a dream come true. My calling in life. Cuz seriously, I’m the hub. The ambassador." Today, she posted some images of the line that haven't been released. See the collection, which includes everything from clothes to luggage to throw pillows to teacups, in the slideshow. If there's a fight for anything it will be for those teacups.

Steven Tyler Teams Up With Andy Hilfiger for Macy’s Line

Steven Tyler.

Retailing mogul Andy Hilfiger (Tommy's brother) has convinced Steven Tyler to partner with him on a "rocker-inspired" clothing line for Macy's called Andrew Charles. Tyler will make several Macy's appearances to promote the collection, which hits stores next month. Meanwhile, in an impressive round of celebrity back-scratching, Tyler's 22-year-old daughter Chelsea, an aspiring model, will star in the ad campaign.

Andy Hilfiger also worked with J. Lo on her clothing lines. »

The Fug Girls on Emma Stone’s Style Evolution

It’s been a busy four years for Emma Stone: Since bursting onto the scene as the sassy-yet-grounded object of Jonah Hill's affection in Superbad, the starlet has been nominated for a Golden Globe, landed a starring role in one of this summer's more anticipated movies (The Help, which opens today), and found herself in the middle of next summer's most anticipated movie (The Amazing Spider-Man), complete with juicy rumors that she is canoodling with its star. She even squeezed in an oft-lamented blonde dye job and an SNL hosting gig. In short, Stone has gone from "cute girl in an Apatow movie" to "A-list Hollywood starlet" in the amount of time that the rest of us took to complete high school. Join us as we take a look at her wardrobe to see if it earns a similarly easy A. (Apologies. We couldn't resist.)

Christian Louboutin Lost His Case Against Yves Saint Laurent's Red Soles

They're safe!

Judge Victor Marrero has ruled to deny Christian Louboutin's request for a preliminary injunction that would prevent YSL from selling the red-soled shoes from its 2011 resort collection. He wrote in his ruling:

Because in the fashion industry color serves ornamental and aesthetic functions vital to robust competition, the court finds that Louboutin is unlikely to be able to prove that its red outsole brand is entitled to trademark protection, even if it has gained enough public recognition in the market to have acquired secondary meaning.

Here's what each side's lawyer has to say about it. »

Lara Stone Thinks Nigella Lawson Is Sexier Than Lady Gaga

"Being sexy is something inside and not everybody has it. I don't think I ever really had it, a lot of it is to do with confidence. Lady Gaga, for example, walking around in her bra and knickers and being really sexy but still she's not sexy at all, to me," says Stone, who adds she is "obsessed" with Nigella Lawson. "I think she is just the most gorgeous person ever. Her skin practically makes me drool. I'd love to be like her." [Telegraph UK]

Here Are the World’s Most Expensive Flip-Flops

For the total sum of every single summer vacation expense ever, you could buy this pair of flip-flops. The brainchild of eco-friendly footwear company Chipkos and L.A. artist David Palmer, they cost $18,000 a pair and guarantee the protection of 100,000 square feet of endangered rainforest land in Costa Rica. Presumably, you're supposed to hang these on your wall instead of shuffling home from the nail salon in them. [Mogulite via Slaves to Fashion/Glamour]

LVMH Managed to Buy More Hermès Shares

The target.

Despite the lengthy measures that Hermès has taken to defend their company's shares from LVMH, who got everyone in a tizzy about the possibility of a hostile takeover when they gained a sizable chunk of Hermès stocks last year, LVMH has still managed buy more. The conglomerate announced yesterday that they'd upped their stake Hermès from 20.2 percent to 21.4 percent, although Bernard Arnault has maintained that he has no intention of attempting to gain control of the brand.

Lindsay Lohan’s Little Sister Ali Signed With Next Models

Ali Lohan.

After entertainers' careers as entertainers end, the fashion industry often opens its cold, bony arms to them. Just look at Jessica Simpson, who makes a very handsome living off her fashion line, now that her music career has stalled. Or Lindsay Lohan, who fled to Ungaro, and then her own 6126 label, before legal problems kept her away from work entirely. But her younger sister Aliana can act as her ambassador to the world and to the fashion business. The 17-year-old, who has modeled for 6126, just signed with Next modeling agency.

"Ali will set herself apart as a bona fide icon," NEXT says. »

Here’s Another Awkward Thing Sold by American Apparel

It comes as a free gift when you order the spring/summer issue of Ey! magazine, "a sexy, exciting, open, colorful and fun publication celebrating the magnificent vitality, energy and power of young male adulthood." Or you can buy it on AA's website for $24. The message on the shirt is problematic, many blogs have noted, because AA CEO Dov Charney is nearly constantly sued for sexual harassment by young women. But it's also kind of a big shrug because AA sells lots of weird things and, as many people seem to have forgotten, Charney is openly trying to be the next Hugh Hefner. [SheFinds]
