United Nations Development Group unite and deliver effective support for countries
About UNDG Africa (Eastern-Southern)
UNDG Africa (Eastern-Southern) was established in 2004 initially as a pilot covering Southern Africa and later as a permanent structure extending its geographical coverage to countries in Eastern Africa. The major objective of the UNDG Africa (E-S) is to support the UN Country Teams (UNCTs) in 22 eastern and southern Africa countries to advance the UN coherence agenda and enhance strategic programming, resource mobilization, and partnership-building – all towards strengthening the UN contribution to countries in achieving their Millennium Declaration Goals and MDG-aligned national priorities. UNDG Africa (E-S) currently has a membership of 15 agencies, funds and programmes, including: UNDP, UNFPA, UNICEF, UNAIDS, UNIFEM, UNODC, UNEP, WHO, WFP, FAO, OCHA, OHCHR, ILO, UNOPS and UNHCR.

Countries in Eastern and Southern Africa covered by RDT ESA include: Angola, Botswana, Burundi, Comoros, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Rwanda, Seychelles, South Africa, Swaziland, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

Our Vision: UNDG Africa (E-S) envisions a region in which the most vulnerable people of Eastern and Southern Africa identify and realize their human rights to peace, security and development.

Our Mission: UNDG Africa (E-S) is committed to mobilize, rationalize and leverage our assets in support of UN Country Teams’ assistance to countries in their efforts to achieve MD/MDG-based national priorities; and to work strategically with our partners to identify and act upon regional priorities.
