The entire design team at Christian Dior, clad in white lab coats, walked onto the runway to receive applause after the show in Paris today — the first that would go on without dismissed designer John Galliano in fifteen years. The team received a standing ovation, and though this may not have been the label's most impressive collection in terms of clothes, it may have been its most impressive collection in a few other ways.

Outside the venue the mood was frenetic, but Joe Zee noticed only one person with a sign that read, "The king is gone." With Galliano having been dismissed for allegedly making anti-Semitic remarks just days ago, Dior CEO Sidney Toledano took the runway to make a statement before the show. "It has been deeply painful to see the Dior name associated with the disgraceful statements attributed to its designer, however brilliant he may be," he said. "Such statements are intolerable because of our collective duty to never forget the Holocaust and its victims, and because of the respect for human dignity that is owed to each person and to all peoples." Not even two months after giving birth to her first child — Flynn the ginormo-baby — Miranda Kerr walked in the Balenciaga show today in Paris. Editors loved how wearable it was, Cathy Horyn writes for the Times. Horyn, who is never easy to impress, was quite complimentary herself. "What’s the line from 'Jerry Maguire'? You had me at hello?" she writes. Also shocking, the opening jackets that looked to be made of knitted leather were actually made of fake leather — also known as pleather. Pleather. At Balenciaga.
