Category Manager – People Hub

Camden is a top performing council. We employ over 8,000 people and serve 200,000 residents in one of London’s most prestigious boroughs. We spend over £400m per annum with suppliers and other external bodies. Camden is now entering a significant period of change and as a result, we have created a modern class leading procurement function to place us at the cutting-edge of local government to deliver superior outcomes and improvements in efficiencies.

The new procurement model is themed on the current supply market and is made up of four hubs plus a central strategic team. The people hub is charged with managing approximately £120m of annual spend on health and social care services. This exciting development will deliver procurement for the council and Camden NHS for both children’s and adult's services. We currently have opportunities available for three health and social care category managers.

Key aspects of the roles include

• Pro-active leadership and accountability for an annual spend of approximately £20m
• Acting as the council’s procurement expert in respect of the category
• Leading procurement projects, influencing strategic and commercial decisions
• Managing relationships with external suppliers and partners at the highest levels

Ideally you will have the following

• Experience of public sector procurement preferably in either health or social care and commitment to delivering cost effective, high quality services.
• Experience of delivering continuous improvement and efficiency improvements.
• Leadership and management experience.
• Proven stakeholder management experience.
• Sound experience of managing contracts.
• Considerable experience in the procurement of goods and service in or across the following categories which all include children and adult services.
• Category Manager – Community services.
• Category Manager – Residential services, including nursing care, continuing care, supported living, fostering and adoption services.
• Category Manager – Home-based services, including home care, day care, community support.
• CIPS qualification or equivalent.
