NBA Trade Rumor: Gerald Wallace & D.J. Augustin To Portland For Marcus Camby & Andre Miller

While yesterday’s big news was that Michael Jordan and the Bobcats were considering a trade proposal that would send D.J. Augustin, DeSagana Diop and Matt Carroll to the Clippers for Baron Davis, apparently that wasn’t the only deal being discussed down in the Queen City. Duke recruit’s dunk contest upset over best H.S. dunker in country

With some of America’s top high school talent convening in Fort Myers, Fla., this week for the City of Palms Classic, naturally the tourney’s dunk contest was off the chain.

Deuce Bello (Westchester, N.C.), the 19th-best dunker in the world, was considered the favorite going in. But he faced stiff competition from Ike Nwamu (Westchester, N.C.), Shaquille Johnson (Milton, Ga.), Demetris Morant (Bishop Gorman, Nev.) Marcus Gilbert (Academy of the New Church, Pa.) and Marshall Plumlee (Christ School, N.C). In the end, 6-foot-11 Duke signee Plumlee took home the title.

The other night in Portland’s win over Golden State, second-year Blazers forward Dante Cunningham had a breakthrough game. Finishing with 13 points and five rebounds in a career-high 39 minutes of action, D.C. showed the Portland brass why they drafted him with the 33rd overall pick in the 2009 NBA Draft. So on a team constantly struggling with injuries, the best thing Cunningham can do is bright it when he’s given the chance.
