Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds Spotted on Dinner Date: Are They Reuniting?
In the immediate aftermath of announcing the end of a marriage, few would expect to see a famous Hollywood couple out together in public. On a dinner date. Laughing and smiling.
Yet that's what went down on Friday night at Blue Ribbon restaurant in New York City, where
Scarlett Johansson and
Ryan Reynolds were spotted sharing "a friendly meal," according to a new report from
People.com.
In their joint
statement about their decision to split up, the pair had expressed a mutual intention to show "love and kindness" even as they ended the marriage -- and this weekend, that goal was on full display. But are the two reuniting?
"They just wanted to connect and have a friendly chat," a source says. "They just wanted to sit down together. The tone was light and fun, despite the untruths that the media is working up. They aren't reconciling. This was just two people who were married being civil and friendly."
The dinner was so friendly, in fact, that Johannson, 26, and Reynolds, 34, were seen "smiling and laughing the whole time."
Busy work schedules in different cities has been cited as one of the main reasons the marriage faltered (not that anyone close to the couple seems to know the full story: a friend of Scarlett's told
PopEater this week, "No one had any idea this was coming"). Nevertheless, with Reynolds in New York for a photo shoot during a break from shooting 'The Change Up' (a comedy co-starring
Olivia Wilde and Jason Bateman) in Atlanta, he and Johansson clearly wanted to find quality time to see each other.
Johansson, who recently returned from a vacation in Jamaica with friends, married 'Green Lantern' star Reynolds in 2008 in a hush-hush ceremony in Canada. The couple have no children.

Here we go again another couple ready to call it quit on their marriage. If two people really love each other they would try hard to make a go of the marriage, this crap about they are both so busy working,they should have a agreement that when one is working the other is not that way they can travel together.It seems that Scatlett and Ryan have not tried.Are they that strapped for cash that they both have to work at the same time,it seems that their work is more important then the marriage.

How do you know they didn't work on their marriage? And where is it written how long you should stay in a marriage unhappy? Should you stay til you ultimately hate each other?
Sometimes you do go down different paths and you do drift apart. And then it's just missing and because you do "love" one another only no longer in love, well you separate and then divorce.
I am thinking you might have callously been dumped and because of what you feel you wish to project that onto others.
Divorce doesn't have to be negative or full of hatred.
Sometimes it just doesn't work.
He looks so varsity, I bet she's dumping him because he's really like little sissy. On the other hand that bum probably didn't have a car.

Its pretty sad that these two cant sit down to eat, with out others trying to guess what their talking about.
I would rather be old tired me, than to be followed every where I go. These actors have to give up all privacy to do what they do.
I dont know how they do it, the money wouldnt mean anything if I was followed every day.

I think there's more to this than anyone knows. Didn't anyone watch Reynolds' movie "The Proposal"? Well, in case you didn't here's a quick re-cap. An illegal "Canadian" is working in America and in order to avoid deportation, they have to marry an American. Get the picture? This marriage is a farce.

Oh hon, most Hollywood marriages are a farce. In Hollywood's so-called "golden era", studios told their stars who to date, marry, how to dress, where to go to be seen, etc. Celebrities are still doing all this, just without a studio. I think most of them are publicity stunts to keep their names in images in print.
Who cares about these actors? They are just actors. They have lives and break ups just like anyone else. Meanwhile our country is headed for third world status. Politicians from both parties are in collusion with big business and are stealing our money. As Rome was declining, the politicians knew they could keep the people in line by offering entertainment and the wherewithal to live--bread and circuses. The people were satisfied and the Roman empire ceased to exist. Wake up.

True that! The problem is, no one else will see the truth you speak. Nor will they believe it no matter what. We want the illusion, for some freakish reason, perhaps to divert us from the fact that we KNOW our lives are S**t. Sad. But true.
This is really sad. Even though Ryan is "The Sexiest Man Alive", I felt like he would be the guy I could be a buddy with and share a beer. I really rooted for them to be a modern day Newman and Woodward. I do know that when Ryan was in N.O. filming Green Lantern, Mrs. Reynolds would show up on set and during breaks in shooting take Mr. Reynolds into his trailer and rock his world. No Mr. and Mrs. Smith action for her, thank you very much! Maybe if they take it slow, who knows...

i had fun with the fantasy of those two being a couple. it is sad to let it go. instead of feeding off the speculation it would be more interesting to understand why it is especially foolish to expect the idea of being a couple with a successful hollywood careers is no more than an oxymoron.
