MDGNet

The MDG Network was initiated in 2002 as a follow-up to the World Summit and the signing of the Millennium Declaration. MDGNet is a virtual network which supports a global dialogue for achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs). Its membership consists of representatives of UN agencies and other development partners in civil society, governments, academia and the private sector.

MDGNet provides a platform for practitioners to exchange information and experience about issues such as the design and implementation of policies and strategies in support of achieving the MDGs, monitoring and reporting of MDG progress, MDG advocacy and campaigning activities, and others. Services and Products by MDGNet

MDGNet provides 'virtual' support to network members around issues of MDG implementation and also facilitates exchange of experiences and practices from UNDG and others lead MDG initiatives and programmes. The services provided include; 1) Queries extend the opportunity for members to submit specific questions to collect information and comparative experience in countries and regions from network members on the topic. 2) Consolidated Replies are concise documents that summarize responses from network members to queries posted on the network. 3) E-discussions are a 'virtual' policy forum that encourages practitioners to engage in an in-depth discussion around variety of substantive issues. Each E-discussion is concluded with a 'Reference Note' summarizing the discussion. 4) E-consultations provide opportunity for network members to consult and provide feedback to draft documents. 5) MDGNet News Updates provide updates that include recent MDG related news, resources and events.
