United Nations Development Group unite and deliver effective support for countries
Phase 3: Project Implementation

Project Management - Design & Construction

Once the proposal has been endorsed by the TTCP the implementation phase starts. During this phase, the Project Manager (PM) should already be onboard to supervise the project and ensure the UN's interests are being protected.  The PM should provide monthly progress reports to the Resident Coordinator, who is to share this information with both the UNCT and the TTCP in HQs.

The 'Plan of Actions & Milestones for Renovation/Construction Projects' (POAM) was developed by the TTCP as a tool for scheduling the design and renovation/construction phases, and also serves to establish the length of the contract of the PM.    When constructing on Government land, all legal issues relating to the building and site are agreed on and recorded in the agreement with the Government (MOA).

Relocation & Designation

Once the renovation/construction works have been completed, commissioned and certified to be in compliance with the local building codes, the Agencies can move in. To designate a UN House, a request may be submitted through the TTCP for endorsement. The TTCP will then in turn advise the United Nations Development Group Office (DGO), who will make a request to the office of the UN Secretary-General.
