In its retreat held in February, the UNDG Africa (E-S) identified the following priority work areas for 2008:

• Continued support to UNCTs in developing and implementing nationally aligned MD- and MDG-based programs
• Advance the UN coherence agenda in support of national priorities through CCA/UNDAF support
• RC/UNCT performance appraisal system implemented in-line with the new DOCO guidelines
• Effectively collaborate with regional entities through harmonized partnership development with the aim of aligning regional programs supported by UNDG agencies with the needs and priorities of key regional entities
• Enhance service delivery to UNCTs through a continuous refinement of operational and coordination mechanisms
• Provide predictable, strategic, and operational support services in the area of early warning, contingency planning & preparedness, and humanitarian responses
