Televangelist Who Blames Hurricanes on Abortion Also Has Some Pretty Progressive Views on Marijuana Policy

Yes, we're talking about Pat Robertson, the guy who attributed Hurricane Katrina to abortion, and 9/11 to feminists and gays and pagans and the ACLU. He also wants to decriminalize marijuana, apparently. As he said on his show The 700 Club recently, "We're locking up people that have taken a couple puffs of marijuana, and next thing you know they've got ten years with mandatory sentences." Does this mean he's not going to blame the next tsunami on stoners? [Raw Story]

Update: A spokesman clarifies that "Dr. Robertson did not call for the decriminalization of marijuana. He was advocating that our government revisit the severity of the existing laws because mandatory drug sentences do harm to many young people who go to prison and come out as hardened criminals."
