INDIANAPOLIS – Austin Collie, a wide receiver for the Indianapolis Colts who has missed three consecutive games and four of the past five with post-concussion symptoms, sustained another concussion late in the first half of the team's AFC South showdown against Jacksonville Sunday.
Collie did not return to the game.
He sustained the injury on a pass down the middle from Colts quarterback Peyton Manning late in the first half. Collie collided with Jaguars linebacker Daryl Smith and lay motionless for several minutes. Eventually, Collie sat up and was helped to the locker room as the crowd chanted his name.
Collie made a huge impact for the Colts before his injury, catching eight passes for 82 yards and the Colts' first two touchdowns.
Collie had originally sustained a concussion in a Nov. 7 loss to Philadelphia on a scary hit by the Eagles' Kurt Coleman. He missed the following week, then played for part of the first half in a loss to the New England Patriots, a game in which he caught five passes for 60 yards.
He has caught 58 passes for 647 yards and eight touchdowns this season.

man oh man, poor guy... he's gonna be an early retirement. he needs to sit out until september.
This guy is the best on the Colt's team. I wish him well. The Colts are done without Collie.
They need to sit this guy before they break him forever, if he hasn't been already...
So sorry for him a really great kid. The Colts really need him for the next 2 games, that being said I hope they put him on IR and rest him until next year.
Jesus! This kid's something special, no doubt about it! But, wow...he seems so injury-prone....
When it comes to returning from a concussion, EVERYONE is prone to having it happen again--brain injuries will take out the toughest man alive, and they don't heal absolutely like a bone injury. This is a sore loss for the Colts--just look at what Collie did in the little time he was back. I wish him well on as full a recovery as you can have from multiple concussions.
Best young player in the game. What a shame this happens to him.
I am a Pats fan and of course despise the Colts, but stuff like this puts it in perspective. I feel for this guy, he's a great reciever and a player who gives 100%. I hope he gets back when the time is right. Terrible situation. Good Luck Austin!!!
I was walking into the livingroom just as this play was ending and the sound of the hit made me shake in my tracks and say, "Good Lord!" I can't believe he got up as soon as he did. It wasn't helmet-to-helmet, but somehow, I think his neck was waaay too exposed when he got hit and the whiplash motion was horrid. I hope he's OK and smart enough to know when enoughs enough.
how stupid is manning??? nice move payton you didnt see the zone waiting in the middle to knock a helpless reciever the F out? Gee 1 of the best your recievers just coming back from a concussion, lets throw it right up the seem where I see guys waiting to knock him out.. DUMB!!
Your comment clearly indicates you've never played a game of football in your life. To blame Peyton for this guy's injury is beyond ridiculous and about as stupid a statement as could possibly be made!
Payton? No, it's Peyton
Seem? No, it's seam
What were you saying about Peyton being stupid and dumb?
peyton Knows when and where he is leading his receivers'...for being such an advocate for the game you would expect better/safer plays
Austin gives his all. It makes me sick to see what's happened to him this season; Manning needs to make some adjustments to protect his best receiver.
Get real man, this is football. Not flag-football. It's been a contact sport since it began. If they keep up with the can't do this, can't do that rules. You might as well give them a flag. Then see how many people will continue to watch.
Agreed....IR now. Bringing him back this year, regardless of his desire to play, would be criminal.
Hey pal, you have got to be kidding saying Peyton Manning is responsible for this guy getting hurt??!! I don't think I've ever heard a more absurd or meaningless comment ever! Are you a Democrat?
way to go Manning....he must hate collie or something, cause he keeps leading poor collie right into a SAFETY down the middle....easy throw for manning, which of course is what mannings after, but NOT AN EASY CATCH for the WR ...or should I say, not so easy holding onto ball after catch ...Collie should be done for the year now, I cannot believe they made him sit on the bench in a near como after being KNOCKED OUT ...again....that guy has perminant brain damage now, hope he gets insurance to pay for the rest of his life, cause I know his salary isn't gonna cover it...maybe manning will take some of that $100 he gets in salary & help collie out?
Brady throws the same type of passes. Because he learned from Peyton. So, as you usually do, jccidiot, put down peyton, you also put down your man-crush Tom Brady.
It's because he's from BYU
