In the fanfare over Ike's redemption yesterday, we missed the fact that Planning also gave the green light to Whole Foods and that eight-story condo complex that will be housed in at Market and Dolores, on the spot of the former S&C; Ford dealership. The argument over paid parking seems to be settled, and the bicycle people were appeased with 16 bike racks and eighteen more bicycle spaces, and 60 outreach meetings later, the neighbors have apparently been worn down too over their noise and traffic concerns. Safeway, we're quite certain, is none too pleased, but the across-the-street neighbors will have to co-exist once this store opens, which we're guessing won't be for another two years. Remember, though, that the new Upper Haight Whole Foods is set to open in February.
