Carine Roitfeld and Tom Ford just go together, like Nicole Richie on her wedding day and dressed-up elephants. Carine worked with Tom at Gucci beginning in 1994 as his muse and stylist, helping to modernize the label and bring in 90 percent sales growth from 1995 to 1996. Carine later followed Tom to Yves Saint Laurent, and now industry people are wondering if she'll follow him to his own label, which — you may have heard — just launched women's wear.

"When we heard Tom was coming back, we all thought — that's it, Carine will go with him and it will be like the golden years again!", says Sophia Neophitou-Apostolou, editor-in-chief of 10 magazine. "Carine is to Tom Ford what Amanda Harlech is to Karl Lagerfeld. She's always been his muse so a move like that would make perfect sense."

Names being bandied about to replace her include Love editor and stylist extraordinaire Katie Grand and French Vogue fashion director Emmanuelle Alt.
