Abdul Kadir Gets Life Sentence for JFK Bomb Plot

  • 12/16/10 at 02:35 AM

Abdul Kadir, a former Guyanese government official accused of plotting to blow up fuel tanks at JFK airport three years ago, was sentenced on Wednesday to life in prison. In a statement, Kadir maintained he was innocent: "At no time did I ever pose a threat to any person or property in this country.” Based on evidence to the contrary (including secretly recorded conversations in which Kadir schemed to detonate the tanks so that the explosions would set off a chain reaction along a pipeline through the city), nobody believed this.
