Don Johnson Is Mad at the Emmy Awards - and So Is Jay LenoWell, the 2010 Emmy Awards were held last night. That's all very well and good for the people who won. But what about the losers? What about the stars who never win, or who fail over and over again? On 'The Tonight Show With Jay Leno' (weeknights, 11:35PM ET on NBC), we get to meet two such Emmy losers: Don Johnson and Jay Leno.

While talking to Leno, Johnson recounts his one and only shot at Emmy-related glory. In 1985, he was nominated as Best Actor in a Drama for his work on 'Miami Vice.' And he didn't win. It's been 25 years since then, but Don still seems a little irritated. He calls the whole Emmy experience "painful" and "excruciating," while Jay laughs and claps his hands. "I was pissed!" Johnson says.

January JonesThe always beautiful January Jones of 'Mad Men' was nominated for Outstanding Actress in a Drama Series at last night's 2010 Emmy Awards, but, unlike the show that made her famous, Jones didn't take home a statue for her role as Betty Draper. The first-time nominee lost to perennial contender Kyra Sedgwick, who nabbed the prize for her performance in 'The Closer.'

Before the event, Jones walked the carpet with rumored boyfriend Jason Sudeikis of 'Saturday Night Live' fame.

    Jones donned
a futuristic Versace gown and Miu Miu heels which, unfortunately, helped land her on our worst dressed list.

The 'Mad Men' star, who was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama, ended up on our list of worst dressed celebrities. One complaint: those sleeves!

The fact that there are way more "bests" than "worsts" this year sums up the Jimmy Fallon-hosted 2010 Emmy telecast. Fallon was charming, funny and kept the show moving, the celeb-studded opening musical number -- a spoof of 'Glee' -- is sure to be a viral video tomorrow and lots of fan favorites actually took home statues ... add in the fact that the show didn't go into OT, and the Emmys telecast was a refreshingly entertaining awards show.

The 2010 Emmy Awards Had a Great Host, but Odd Pacing

Jimmy Fallon hosts the 2010 Emmy AwardsWhy anyone volunteers to produce an awards broadcast is beyond me. You just can't win; there are always going to be awards that people don't care about, and no matter how well you pace things, those awards will always drag the show down.

The producers of Sunday's Emmy Awards did the best they could to keep things moving, and in the first 90 minutes, it looked like they did just that. Then they realized that they had another 90 minutes left. And that's when the problems began.

At least they had a fantastic host in Jimmy Fallon. And if they had used him in the last half, things would have gone much better. But that's not how award shows go, even though everyone who watches them wishes it was different.

'Mad Men' was one of the few repeat winners, collecting the Best Drama again for the third year in a row. And 'Breaking Bad' star Bryan Cranston also won his third trophy as Best Actor in a Drama.

But most of the telecast's categories saw brand-new winners. 'The Closer' star Kyra Sedgwick stunned prognosticators by winning her first Emmy for Best Actress in a Drama, beating out frontrunner Julianna Margulies ('The Good Wife') and previous winner Glenn Close ('Damages').

Though Margulies lost, her co-star Archie Panjabi became another first-time winner in the Supporting Drama Actress category.

Emmy statueThe 2010 Emmys are shaping up to be a humdinger of a show. There are intriguing storylines all over the place. Will new shows dominate the major awards? Who will be the winner in the epic battle between 'Glee' and 'Modern Family?' What will Conan say if he wins an Emmy for his version of 'The Tonight Show?' Will Neil Patrick Harris finally win for playing Barney Stinson? And will Jimmy Fallon play beer pong with Bryan Cranston?

I'm looking forward to finding out, and we're inviting our loyal readers to watch along with us. On Sunday starting at 7PM ET, I'll be hosting a live chat via Cover It Live. We'll talk about the red carpet shenanigans -- who doesn't love to make fun of silly outfits and inane questions -- then have a discussion about the ceremony itself, which starts at 8PM ET / 5PM PT (remember: it's live to the entire country this year).
