Doctors Are Prescribing Teenagers More Drugs

A new study from the journal Pediatrics shows that in the past fourteen years, prescription rates for controlled medications, including sedatives, nearly doubled up to 16.1 percent among young adults and 11.2 percent in adolescents. The study credits increased awareness of insomnia and anxiety, new pharmaceuticals, and direct-to-consumer marketing. Insomnia and anxiety — what do those rent-free, smooth faces have to be hypochondriacal about? It's true what they say, drugs are wasted on the young. Wait, that is what they say, right?
