'Sanctuary' Season 3, Episode 5 Recap

['Sanctuary' - 'Hero 2: Broken Arrow']
One of the things that makes 'Sanctuary' such a great show to watch are episodes like this one. This was a sequel of sorts to the episode 'Hero' from last season about a suit made up of abnormal insects attaching itself to a host.
This time around the host was Kate, who became a bad-ass superhero, but when things got a little wonky, it was up to Magnus and the gang to neutralize her before she caused any real damage.
Kate and Will went on a mission to transport abnormals to a temporary off-site facility after a security breach, but ran into trouble when a group of armed operatives highjacked their truck. Before the bad guys managed to steal the suit, it attached itself to Kate turning her into a bona fide superhero, or in this case more like super villain.
Kate was a heightened version of herself and displayed some wicked powers including super speed, immense strength, awesome acrobatics, and the power of seduction. It was fun seeing her like this. There have been a lot of episodes featuring Kate lately and it's good that the writers are adding new dimensions to her character. It made her much more likeable.
This episode also featured the return of fan favorite, Walter played by Chris Gauthier of 'Eureka' fame. Last time we saw Walter he was fighting crime on the streets of "Old City" as the superhero the Adjuster; a man who got in the way of the Sanctuary gang one too many times. Magnus saved him from the suit, but that wasn't the end of Walter.
After Kate's abduction, Magnus realized that there was only one other person who knew about the suit, so she tracked down Walter who went from a career as an insurance adjuster to a television executive of a show he developed based on his comic book character. He let the secret of the suit slip to an operative who worked for Virgil, the head of a tech company who, as it turned out, was responsible for the origins of the suit. So, out of guilt, Walter joined the team and helped them track down Kate and Virgil's operatives.
Walter was a great character who brought a lot of life to this episode, he also represented a certain niche demographic of fans. The writers in a way paid tribute to these fans and the result was subtle yet brilliant. One of the best scenes was between Henry and Walter in a lab at the Sanctuary. Their encounter started off pretty awkward as Henry felt slighted by Walter who cut off communication - who knew that these two were friends?
Henry is a total comic book fan and when Walter asked him what he thought of the script he wrote for the movie version of 'The Adjuster,' Henry informed him that it didn't ring true to what he knew of the character from the comics or Walter as a person. In response, Walter went on this rant about how it's impossible to please, "every die hard fan in his mom's basement."
Ultimately, though, Walter took Henry's advice to heart. He became a true hero in this episode and used the connection he had with the suit to save Kate. He was heroic without the armor and like Henry pointed out, people relate more to a person who is just like them. In the end, Walter kept it real and changed the movie character to reflect a flawed yet lovable version of himself.

My only problem with the episode is the super hero outfit they put on Kate. Not flattering at all and she is a hottie with a hot bod! The costume department could've come up with something that fit properly, better boots too - I could've come up with something better from my own closet.

Fun episode & great to see Walter return.The end of the show did not ring anymore true than Walter's script for The Adjuster film.Suddenly the studio has allowed Walter,with no previous experience,become the director of the movie? Not how it works in Hollywood folks.
