Ask any fan of the 'The Simpsons' for their all-time favorite episodes and chances are, most of those will be from their annual Halloween episode, 'Treehouse of Horror.'

So how to narrow down 21 years and 60 segments to a mere 10? Just contemplating it can drive you mad!

This year's episode airs Sun., Nov. 7, (that's right after Halloween), but we couldn't wait to revisit the 'Simpsons' best horror send-ups. We've got vampires, zombies, killer clowns. But hey, note to Matt Groening: Where are the mummies?

How to dress like You, the Average Television Viewer

The Costume: You, the Average Television Viewer, who has dutifully slogged through every show on television in order to find the perfect one.

What You'll Need: Basically, whatever clothes you're wearing right now. Or perhaps you can wear a set of your favorite pajamas, since that's probably what you don when sitting down for your evening's viewings.

You can also go for the outfit that most personifies the average TV watcher: White, nacho-stained, athletic T-shirt one-size too short for your beer belly, faded jeans one size too tight, bottle or can of beer and a remote -- slightly dented from throwing it at the television screen.

Nobody does Halloween on live TV like Regis Philbin and Kelly Ripa.

The dynamic duo of 'Live! With Regis & Kelly' (weekdays, syndicated) pulled out all the stops with this year's "'Live's' Reality Bites Again: Chomped From the Headlines' set of Halloween costumes.

The talk show hosts dressed as the stars of 'Jersey Shore,' 'Keeping Up With the Kardashians,' 'Modern Family,' 'The Rachel Zoe Project' and 'Glee,' as well as tabloid sensations Lady Gaga, Cher, Justin Bieber and Steven Slater.

Philbin also donned a furry red costume along with Ripa in a bright yellow dress to parody one of the most absurd controversies of the year: Katy Perry and Elmo on 'Sesame Street.' The stars closed the show as new 'American Idol' judges Steven Tyler and Jennifer Lopez.

How to dress like Rachel Berry of 'Glee.'

The Costume: Rachel Berry, co-leader of McKinley High's New Direction glee club and girlfriend to school quarterback Finn Hudson.

What You'll Need: It depends if you're going as season 1 or season 2 Rachel. If season 1, you'll want to start off with a wig of straight hair, parted somewhere in the middle, and follow that up with a number of sweater shirts, preferrably adorned with various animals. Slacks or capris of various pastel colors or a plaid skirt completes the set.

If going for the season 2 look you'll need to purchase a Hannah Montana wig, cut it down to your neckline and dye it brown. Replace the sweater vest and plaid skirts with a solid-color two-piece outfit. You can also try for a polka-dotted sun dress or, if you want to get really nasty, the outfit she wore during 'Britney/Brittany.'

Don't let the title of this episode mislead you, 'IASIP' fans -- since when has this series ever answered a question so easily? We're torn between comparing this madcap Halloween caper to 'The Hangover' or to 'Memento,' but either way, someone put a bun in Sweet Dee's oven, and we're itching to discover who that brave adventurer might be.

Halloween is always an excuse for drunken debauchery and slutty costumes, but we can't quite decide which of the gang's offerings was our favorite.

Mac passed up the comedic costume choice of Mario (thereby screwing Dennis and his not-so-sexy Luigi ensemble) in favor of attempting to portray Viggo Mortensen's Aragorn from 'The Lord of the Rings,' even if he wasn't quite sure what to call himself. Charlie was equally confused, dressing as the Phantom of the Opera but mistaking himself for a vampire with a very questionable accent.

['Community' - "Epidemiology"]

'Community' is one of the few shows on TV right now that walks the line between realism and absurdity without ever really
going over to either side completely. On the one hand, it's a series about a group of losers, outcasts and social malcontents who attend classes together and hang out. On the other hand, it's a confection of pop-culture in-jokes, movie references and homage.

'Epidemiology' is a terrific example of the sort of rewards this mix can yield. Remember how good 'The Simpsons' was in
its fourth season -- how the crazy adventures were all grounded in solid characters and warm, believable family relationships? 'Community' doesn't have the same consistency yet, but episodes like this one show that it could be there soon -- tonight giving us an all out zombie apocalypse that never lost sight of what holds the series together.

['The Office' - 'Costume Contest']

I'm starting to think that Kelly Kapoor is Dunder-Mifflin's misunderstood genius.

In tonight's slow-building but ultimately winning episode, she uttered a line to Michael that capsulizes what everyone at Dunder Mifflin Scranton has been probably been feeling for years:

"Can you for once let us enjoy a party without making it about all your issues?"

Until that statement, we were in for yet another self-centered, embarrassing Michael tantrum, this one directed at Darryl for going over his head to Gabe with a sales idea. It's something we've seen many times over the previous six seasons, and they've started to become parodies of themselves. But in this bounce-back seventh season, the writers knew enough to cut off the tantrum right at the start, allowing the Halloween fun and games to shine through.

There's something inherently eerie about the warm glow of a television in a dark room, a spooky and mysterious warmth that sends shivers through the hairs on the back of your neck.

Of course, since staring at a blank screen all night isn't very interesting unless some lost spirit is trying to communicate with the living world through it (if that's the case, please invite me to your party, I'll bring dip), one of these scary TV shows will help set the mood on Halloween night.

If you pop one of these shows in the DVD player, not only will your friends laud your impeccable taste in terrifying television, they'll probably be too scared to leave your house until at least Veteran's Day.

Vampires and werewolves are old. Werewolves, as an idea, have been with us since medieval times, and may even go back as far as the Greeks. Vampires are even older, with some sources suggesting the idea is actually prehistoric -- though it's doubtful our caveman ancestors were debating the merits of Buffy vs. Bella. They were probably just scared out of their loincloths of bloated, red-faced monsters. The idea of good-looking vampires didn't come around until the 18th century. Sparkly ones, famously, were added to the canon very recently.

Monsters are not supposed to scare adults. Serial killers, gangs, torture, guns, sickness, terrorism and crippling bankruptcy are the things meant to scare us.

However, every once in awhile, a series will create a monster believable enough to actually scare us. We may not jump or cry while watching the show, but the memory of it sticks with us. It's unsettling when you're alone at night or lost in the woods. In honor of Halloween, here are the scariest TV monsters of all time.

The zombie renaissance continues this week on TV with two fantastic, inventive series. The 'Dead Set' miniseries, originally broadcast on the Britain's E4, gets its U.S. premiere tonight on IFC at midnight, with a marathon Halloween night starting at 7PM ET.

And the much-hyped TV adaptation of the comic series 'The Walking Dead' premieres Sunday at 10PM ET on AMC with the 90-minute pilot episode.

The shows will overlap by 15 minutes Halloween night, but you won't want to miss a minute of either.

How to dress up like Will Schuester of 'Glee' for Halloween

The Costume: New Directions leader and Spanish teacher Will Schuester from FOX's mega-hit 'Glee,' played by the talented Matthew Morrison.

What You'll Need: Skinny jeans and sweater vests. This is the standard outfit for Schue in his role as glee club director. You can supplement with some button-down shirts and skinny ties, but the jeans and vests are mandatory.

You'll also need some skin-tone putty to enhance your chin as well as add a little cleft. Nothing too drastic; just enough for someone, Sue Sylvester, for example, to say that they want to put a diaper on it because it looks like a baby's bottom.

Without spoiling too much of the fun in tonight's Halloween-themed episode of 'Chuck' (8PM ET, NBC), note the spelling of the ep title: 'Chuck vs. the Aisle of Terror.' The "aisle" in question is a little corner of the Buy More, and the "terror" comes courtesy of -- who else? -- Jeffster!

With manager of all things Buymoria Morgan (Josh Gomez) busily helping his spy cohorts, he has to delegate when it comes time to get the store all decked out for Halloween, so he turns to Jeff (Scot Krinsky) and Lester (Vik Sahay). The fellas come up with some fine decorations, though their piece de resistance is something that's very, well, Jeffster.
