Nice, basic execution with web offerings built in!
     

I love this magazine, and now I'll be more likely to read my copies when they're all here in one place on my iPad. Having access to nymag.com and its blogs inside the app is especially cool. I like the fact that the magazine behaves like a magazine and leaves the fancy digital tricks to the website.

How can it POSSIBLY make sense that that it should cost FIVE TIMES as much to access a digital version of this (or any) magazine as it does to have it printed and mailed to me each week? Anyway, leaving aside the question of whether or not $4.99 is a reasonable cover price for a digital edition, I thought the whole point of subscribing was not to have to pay the cover price - and surely, as a subscriber, I have already paid for the content, which is all that there is to a digital edition... Who knows what the quality of the app itself is like. I won't use it.

Disappointing
     

I expected more from a magazine whose visual design is normally very compelling, with content to match. The resolution is unexpectedly low, with seemingly little thought toward a good reading experience, as the text appears fuzzy even when zoomed out to fit the the page within the screen. Overall, a very poor user experience, even lagging behind other magazines that have very basic digital editions, coming nowhere close to pushing the format forward.
