    Not worth it.....

We were there for a b-day party on a weekend night. The service was lacking and they tried to over-charge us, good thing we checked the bill. Would not go there again or reccomend to anyone. The food and service is def. not camparable to what they charge. Dissapointing experience.

    Very good but not great

Great service, beautiful contemporary space and very good food but maybe I was expecting to be wowed and was not. The short rib is utter decadence and so is the gnocchi but my skate wing was oversalted, save for the sweet raisin sauce which offset the saltiness, a perfect piece of fish could have been ruined. The buffalo chicken which was Bowles being whimsical in his take on buffalo wings was excellent from what my wife said. She loved it so much she forgot to ask me if I would like to taste it ! Service was down to earth, informed and helpful. Overall, I think it was a nice experience. I wish I could give this place higher ratings but certain appetizers and entrees were either very good or ok so consistency was a little short. Maybe I was expecting more because of Bowles stint at Avenues.

    Bowles has it down

After Bowles left Avenues I was shuddering (with excitement) to see what was next from this insanely unique chef with a style that first makes you giggle a bit and then savor each and every bite. I had the pleasure of dining at Avenues a few times and loved it, but damn that place was a hit to the pocketbook! Bowles' new place has a totally different feel and look, but the amazing food came along for the ride. It was nice to see Bowles himself walking around the dining room like a proud papa. It also appears as though a couple of his team members followed as well. His sous chef delivered our desserts and was so sincere and welcoming, and actually gave us a tour of the kitchen! We felt like VIPs and we had such a great time. Favorite dishes/must haves - - Salt & vinegar popcorn (from my understanding this flavor changes daily and is served in lieu of bread...a nice change of pace for the archaic institution of bread & butter. Our server Julie (awesome!) mentioned that they sometimes have truffle parmesan popcorn. I'd go back for that alone - Buffalo Chicken - a twist on the classic - Salmon BLT - summer on a plate, all that's missing is a little pink umbrella in my drink. - Pork - an almost cartoon-like chop with grits, collard greens, watermelon, and root beer barbeque sauce. This dish changed my view of collard greens altogether! the rest of the dish was amazing, but the greens were life changing. - Peach Cobbler & chocolate "brownie" - both were awesome! After the cobbler and the pork it makes me wonder if Bowles is really from Alabama or Mississippi. -) If you're a chocolate fan, well I should say a chocolate peanut butter fan then this dessert will tickle your every nerve! A word of advice: make your reservation way ahead of time, this place is busy, especially if you want to eat at peak time (6:30-8:00) My hubby and I had an early dinner and the place was pretty calm, but completely packed by the the time we left. I'll definitely be back!!!! I can't wait to try the rest of the menu!
