"She's struggling right now," Jeff Czech tells PEOPLE. "Recently, things have begun to get dire. But several times in the past, just when things got bad, the money comes in. She's hopeful things will work out."
Only she may not have much time.
Suleman has already missed her September house payment and reportedly owes the lender and former owner, Amir Haddidan, more than $7,000 in back payments. On Oct. 9 she's expected to make a balloon payment of $450,000 for the La Habra, Calif., property she purchased in March 2009.
Last week, Haddidan says he finished the paperwork to evict the mother of 14 out of the house.
"I'm sick of it," Haddidan tells PEOPLE. "I want my house back."
Czech has yet to receive any paperwork from Haddidan but says, "I'm sure any day now I'll get something."
A Cash Infusion
The lawyer also says that Suleman has two pending promotional projects and a possible production deal that could provide her with an infusion of cash to cover the nearly $10,000 in monthly expenses she incurs. The last thing his client wants to do is go on welfare, says Czech.
In recent months, a reluctant Suleman has come to realize that her best chance of generating income is to allow camera crews back into her house. "She loathes the limelight, the interviewers and the photographers, but she ends up having to do it because that's what makes the most money," says Czech.
Still, she has limitations.
Earlier this month, an adult film company offered her $500,000 for a one-hour porn shoot. "She's not taking that offer seriously," says Czech. "She thinks it's sick."
