Every year my favorite geeky tee source, Threadless, holds a baking competition to see who can come up with the most amazing cakes based on one of its available tee shirts. This year both 3D and 2D cakes made it to the finals, with one super amazing robot cake taking home the grand prize. Check out all the winners and their placements (along with purchase info in case you want a tee for yourself) in this slideshow!
The Gimme Power iPhone Charger is designed by a renowned design studio and sold at Neiman Marcus, but to me, it looks kinda creepy. The hand-shaped charger plugs into your computer to charge your iPhone or iPod, and retails for $180.
Not everyone is as creeped out as I am, as the Gimme Power charger is currently on backorder. Am I missing something? To me, it looks like a mannequin hand, not high design (with an equally high brow price tag). What do you think?

This week's Apple announcements yielded lots of new developments, and afterward, I was curious to find out what you thought about the exciting event. It seems iPods were all the rage with 55 percent of the vote — I'm not surprised, are you? Here's what else you had to say:
"I love that the iPod Nano has a clip. "He" has been wanting one for so long, one that just clips so he can go on his runs. Already ordered one for my hubby with an engraving. Can't wait for him to get it." — Honeylicious
"Really underwhelmed. It's getting worse and worse. " — thecolor
"New iPod Touch with cameras, YAY! The rest of the stuff, meh. Definitely NOT interested in iTunes becoming yet another social networking tool." — Elfyn

Anthropologie is hardly a beacon of technological finds — its soothing, traditional offerings are often anything but. But occasionally it'll throw us geeks a bone; after all, it does carry the gorgeous Vivienne Tam HP netbook as well as other goodies like rustic record players and funky, well-crafted speakers. It's also carrying my new favorite mousepad: the Alphacritter Mousepad by designer Alexa Pulitzer. Each mousepad is actually a 50-page notepad featuring a monogram and darling animal illustration of a critter matching that letter (I'm partial to the giraffe, myself).
At $12, they're a lovely and affordable back-to-school gift item or just a way to prettify your otherwise high-tech office space.
After attacks on its privacy polices — from issues with Google Buzz to the creepy anti-Google video put out by Consumer Watchdog — Google says it will simplify its privacy policies to help consumers better understand them. A Google blog post calls many privacy policies "long, complicated, and lawerly," vowing to make its policies "more transparent and understandable."
