Stella Artois Black Launches in the UK

LONDON, 29 June 2010 - AB InBev UK today unveiled Stella Artois Black, the newest addition to the UK’s leading family of alcohol drinks.

Matured for longer, Stella Artois Black is a golden beer, offering a rounded, full-bodied flavour and a refreshing aftertaste at 4.9% abv.  Brewed in and imported from Belgium, the home of Stella Artois, Stella Artois Black will be available in limited distribution and is perfect for those special occasions when consumers want to try something new and different.

AB InBev UK President Stuart MacFarlane said, “We’re very pleased to be introducing Stella Artois Black. This is another demonstration of our commitment to innovation and investment in the Stella Artois family, building on the ongoing success of Stella Artois 5%, and following the very successful 2008 launch of Stella Artois 4 %.”

AB InBev UK have a strong track record in successful innovations, in particular, over the past few years AB InBev UK has catered to the premiumisation trend with the launch of Stella Artois 4% and Beck’s Vier.

Stella Artois 4% was the most successful launch of 2008 and, supported by award winning advertising campaigns, has helped to drive growth for the Stella Artois family.   In 2009, off-trade volume grew by 228%, and by the end of 2009, Stella Artois 4% held a 4.8% share of standard lager in the off-trade - fantastic results in a very challenging climate.

MacFarlane said, “Stella Artois offers a portfolio of brands for different occasions, and Stella Artois Black will complement Stella Artois 5% and Stella Artois 4%, offering a “premium plus” experience, complete with bespoke font, glassware and a reverential pouring ritual.”

Stella Artois Black will be available in selected on-trade locations from autumn 2010.
