Nascar's biggest crash, the most stupid handball ever and cricket rapping

This week's round-up also features ultimate frisbee genius, premature celebrations and WG Grace in his pomp

1) The biggest crash in Nascar history. Remarkably, every driver involved (all 37 of them) walked away.

2) Quite probably the most foolish handball you're likely to see this season.

3) The only film footage in existence of WG Grace at the crease, plus assorted other legendary figures.

4) Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery when it comes to footballing fish celebrations, but is it too much to ask for a harpoon gun?

5) Raul shows that he's still got it at Schalke. But when it comes to delicious lob wedge goals, it's still not quite as good as this one.

6) He surely can't make that catch, can he?

Our favourites from last week's blog

1) Cricket + rap = Straight Outta Surrey.

2) Cagliari take on Bastia in a pre-season friendly. Well, we say friendly ...

3) Glen Fisiiahi learns the hard way why you shouldn't celebrate before scoring a try.

4) Speaking of which ... don't throw the ball away in celebration before you reach the end zone either.

5) Andriy Shevchenko shows off some of the skills that helped him extract a large amount from Chelsea every week for three seasons.

6) Tarp surfing. "It's all the best parts of surfing and the best parts of tarps," apparently.

The NASCAR film is amazing, the cars look so dangerous compared to modern racing cars!

But...does anything sound better than a big-capacity, wide-angle american V8 engine at full chat? It's better than music.

It's Guadalajara vs Universidad de Chile in the second leg of the semi-final of the Copa Libertadores, South America's biggest club competition, a match full of goal scoring opportunities, goalkeeping worthy of Robert Green, and... a dog.

For those only interested in the dog, it's from 6.30 in the above link.

That tarp surfing looks cack. Is it a wind up? It doesn't look as though it contributes much more to skateboarding than having a wave like plastic sheet over your head at all times.

    Ha ha. Women playing football.

Anyway, this is a famous clip, but not sure if it's been featured before. It's the one where boxer Tony Wilson vows never again to let his mum watch one of his fights (although her stiletto assault actually deliverd him the win).

agree with Ashbowe. tarp surfing if kinda cool if you want to capture surfing footage for a low budget film somewhere in, say, Nebraska. but i can also ride a skateboard over a blue tarp. not impressed.

Forget the rugby league early celebration - here's England's Will Carling prevented from dotting down in unique circumstances in the Middlesex 7s from way back when...

I also recall a stunning tackle by England centre Simon Halliday against, I think, France (Lagisquet maybe?) where the French winger stormed over the line only to have Halliday somehow dislodge the ball from his grasp with a stunning last ditch tackle just as he was dropping to the turf.

Kudos to anyone who can unearth that one from youtube...

    @ashbowe and @TheCactus

My discerning friends. Excuse me for contacting you via this rather public of forums. However, my name is Charles Taylor Jr. son of the dearly beloved ex-Liberia president currently illegally held by Europe's colonial powers.

I am reaching out to you as discerning fellows to help me in and undertaking that I feel sure you will understand can have mutually beneficial outcomes for us all. I to agree Tarp surfing seems a most ridiculous way to spend time and also happen to have $15 000 000 worth of uncut diamonds currently held in a secure safe-box in Amsterdam.

@TheCactus - I'm a bit worried now. Speaking as someone who was completely taken in by Billy Bob Neck and his Christian ranting last week, please tell me that this bloke is another wind up merchant? Tell me he's not real????

Oh! So (crash apart) Nascar really has been that dull since the start. I thought continually driving round in circles for 500 miles must have been a modern innovation. You may as well sit and watch traffic on the M25.

You must be kiddin'. Raul scores in two touches without havin' a glimpse to where the goalkeeper is, right before he hits the ball. Poborsky does. That means Raul is fully aware of the keeper's position at that moment, having memorized it, so all he has to do is a soft spoon touch and it is in. Superb.
