Tim Spinner, chef de cuisine at Distrito and long time right hand man to Jose Garces - he served under the Iron Chef since 2003 - is leaving Distrito to open his own Mexican spot in the suburbs, the Insider reports. Spinner, who was Garces’ sous chef at Stephen Starr’s El Vez and helmed kitchens at Amada and later Distrito while Garces built out his empire, is moving on to pursue Cantina Feliz, a Mexican flavored bar and restaurant that will occupy the former Alison Two in Fort Washington.
