This is Genevieve is one of those small Australian labels which is destined for big, big things. Designer Genevieve Er's Spring/Summer '10 collection, titled There is a Light That Never Goes Out, is filled with lust-worthy items your wardrobe has always craved. Blending pretty with dramatic, floaty with structured and mini with maxi, each piece works as a statement mixed back with basics such as denim. I'm beyond obsessed with all the jersey draping and printed pants; and for the beach-bum in all of us there's a flirty range of swimsuits which offer some of the most flattering cuts I've seen so far. Ridiculously gorge. The This is Genevieve Summer '10 collection hits stores this month, for stockist details phone 02 8668 5151.
Mary-Kate Olsen features on not one, not two, but three cover options for US Marie Claire's September issue. As one of the coolest girls in the world she manages to work a number of different trends with ease; case in point her three different cover looks — military, girly and experimental. They all show a different side to MK which show off her knack for wearing an eclectic mix of styles. Inside the issue she reveals that designing for The Row takes precedence over acting, and that she often wears looks from her and sister Ashley's affordable Olsenboye line. You can catch more from the shoot here, but in the meantime tell me which Mary-Kate cover you think is most fab, (I'm totally rooting for the blue/girly option)!
Can you guess who made the cut in this year's Vanity Fair Best Dressed List? I admittingly was both delighted and disappointed with this year's picks. While there are some obvious players mentioned — Michelle Obama, Carla Bruni-Sarkozy, Charlotte Gainsbourg and Christy Turlington; undeniably stylish (and influential) stars such as Alexa Chung and Kate Bosworth were unfortunately ignored. I was chuffed, however, to see our very own Crown Princess Mary of Denmark make the list due to her love of Prada, Chanel and Hermès. Other noteworthy recipients of the title include Diane Kruger, Carey Mulligan and Georgina Chapman. To see who else is best dressed for 2010, keep reading . . .
Alexa Chung gets back to her modelling roots in this Autumn/Winter campaign for Pepe Jeans shot around the streets of London. Accompanied by male models Jon Kortajarena (who you may remember as the Spanish heartthrob in A Single Man) and Gaspard Menier, this recent shoot mirrors the Spring/Summer campaign which also featured Alexa with two gorge male models. The collection showcases Pepe's cult denim pieces as well as chic striped knits, chunky woollen separates, retro pinafore dresses and textured, furry cover-ups. Needless to say, Alexa looks beyond perfect in every single shot. Click on for all the campaign shots, and check out this cute behind-the-scenes video which has an infectuously cool song in the background called Believe Me by Official Secrets Act!
Marc Jacobs CEO Robert Duffy recently took to his company Twitter account to announce the possibility of adding a size 18 to the label — the largest size right now is a 16. "I'm a big guy 6'4" 210 lbs. [It's] not easy for me to find clothes. Of course I can have them made. I know how everyone feels. I try to diet but . . . We gotta do larger sizes . . . As soon as I get back to NY. I'm on it! It will take me about a year. But stay with us. Problem solving is a big part of our job," he tweeted. This is definitely a positive proclamation! US department store Saks Fifth Avenue is also jumping on the plus size bandwagon, having recently approached major fashion brands to design larger sizes exclusively for their store. Participating labels are reported to be Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana, YSL, Fendi and Roberto Cavalli.

'Member friendship bracelets? They were those woven cotton styles you'd often find in markets and inevitably pile up on your wrist only to cut them off when they became too manky and dishevelled. I know, those were the days. New York-based accessories label Frieda & Nellie have not only recently partnered with J. Crew on a collection of one-of-a-kind charm bracelets, but their whole range plays on the concept of old-school jewellery reinvented to work with today's trends. Designers Stacy Herzog and Sarah Reid work with vintage jewels and woven cotton friendship bracelets to create a totally unique mix of old-and-new designs. LOVE! The Frieda & Nellie online store ships to Australia, so make like Miley and Nicole and start piling!
Flamboyant fashion designer Alannah Hill has been forced to hold a 'sorry sale' in light of her recent comments regarding the Mark McInnes sex scandal. At yesterday's David Jones parade Hill made light of the situation saying that she had a crush on the former department store CEO and that "she wanted to be the girl who lived in the Bondi flat." On this morning's 92.9FM's breakfast show the designer publicly apologised and later backed it up with an email to all her loyal customers expressing her deep regret, admitting "I am extremely sorry if I have caused offense with my comments today. I in no way intended to trivialise the serious nature of sexual harrassment or the victim involved. I meant the comments in jest and in no way meant to cause further distress in an already distressing situation, it was my way of dealing with a stressful situation." The sorry sale will take place in all Alannah Hill stores around Australia with proceeds going to an unnamed charity to benefit women.
