Jason Robinson says he is hoping to avoid the stresses of coaching a Premiership club by agreeing to join Fylde as a player. The former Sale coach has admitted he struggled to cope with the demands of leading an elite club but is relishing the prospects of joining the former England coach Brian Ashton at the National League Two North club.
Robinson was Sale's head coach last season but left after a reshuffle following a dalliance with relegation.
"Last year with Sale I said I would never get into coaching and it reaffirmed the reasons why I didn't want to go into coaching," Robinson, who is 36 today, told the Daily Mail.
"It was certainly stressful. Some of the things that happened opened my eyes. Some people you think you know and some people you are surprised by, but all in all it was a great experience and I don't regret if for one minute.
"I'm not sure if I would want to coach in the Premiership again. I had no aspirations to do it before and it was stressful. It is stressful."
Robinson won 51 caps for England and was part of the 2003 World Cup winning team, having previously played rugby league for Great Britain and England.
