New Tory European group: Dave pulls it off

They said it couldn’t be done, so this announcement is a success for Dave in Europe. The new European Conservatives and Reformists Group has 55 members from eight countries. That makes it the fourth largest group and entitles it to a share of the committee slots and other perks of the EU parliament. The ECRG promotes the 10 principles of the Prague Declaration, which calls for the reform of the EU on the basis of “Eurorealism”. No doubt CCHQ has checked these guys out, but the founding or ‘core’ members are:

Lijst Dedecker (LDD) of Belgium – 1 MEP.

Civic Democratic Party (ODS) of the Czech Republic – 9 MEPs.

The Centre Party (Keskusta) of Finland – 1 MEP.

Hungarian Democratic Forum (MDF) - 1 MEP.

Latvian National Independence Movement (TB/LNNK) - 1 MEP.

ChristianUnion (ChristenUnie) of the Netherlands- 1 MEP.

Law & Justice (PiS) of Poland – 15 MEPs.

Conservative Party of the UK - 26 MEPs.
