 Handbook Revision 2010

The Handbook Revision Process: update

The revision process of the Sphere Project Handbook is progressing. From January to mid-March, the Humanitarian Charter and the four sectoral chapters(Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion; Food Security and Nutrition;Shelter, Settlement and Non-Food Items; Health Action) were posted on the Sphere Project’s website for public review. The chapter on the Standards Common to All Sectors and the Protection text are currently undergoing substantive changes and realignments based on the feedback received from the extensive consultative process. It is envisaged that the drafts of the Standards Common to All Sectors and Protection will be available on the Sphere Project website for public review by end May for a period of six weeks.

Due to a number of factors, including the emergency response in Haiti as well as the introduction of new section on Protection, the production schedule of the 2010 edition of the Handbook has been extended. The new Handbook will be launched in the first quarter next year.

Six months deployment of Sphere and HAP expertise in Haiti continues

Experienced Sphere trainers needed!!

The activities of Sphere and HAP to improve accountability of the humanitarian response in Haiti by providing training to humanitarian staff are ongoing.

Sphere’s activities in Haiti are being managed by DRSS (Disaster Response Support Services), an initiative of  Bioforce and RedR .

Sphere resource person, Annie Lloyd, left Haiti as planned at the end of April and the Sphere Project is currently supporting Bioforce and RedR in their efforts to identify experienced Sphere trainers to continue the excellent training work done by Annie. Individuals interested in working in Haiti and who have experience in training on Sphere, are invited to contact Bioforce:
