The University of Birmingham was founded through philanthropy. Fundraising continues to underpin the development of the institution today. It’s Development and Alumni Relations Office (DARO) is a high performing team, supported by motivated and generous volunteers, a passionate and committed Vice-Chancellor, and senior academic and lay leadership. The University’s current ‘Circles of Influence’ campaign – led by DARO – aims to raise £60 million by 2012. £52 million has been given to date.

Following a significant investment from the University, Birmingham will expand its capacity by up to 19 staff and double its philanthropic income. In the first phase it will recruit a Director of Fundraising, a new senior role within DARO, reporting to the Director of Development and Alumni Relations.

You will have responsibility for leading the University’s well-established major gift fundraising and development operations functions. You will be an outstanding fundraising and development professional with relevant experience and a strong track record of major gift fundraising, strategic implementation and energetic team leadership.
