Plot Summary:
Lumi and Luka Kobayakawa are identical twins who both are members of the track team and have a crush on a handsome upperclassman Katsuyuki Tohma, but he chooses the latter. While Luka doesn't want to hurt Lumi's feelings, Lumi feels betrayed by her own sister. On their way to the party celebrating the graduation of eldest members of the team, they take shelter in a cave, which turns out to be a mass grave, and all members were killed by the strange smell from the cave, with Lumi and Luka only survivors. After the tragedy, Lumi has become a completely different person, and one day she literally emerges from the floor of Luka's room....

After the awkward meandering of the last couple of volumes, it's nice to see Nodame Cantabile back on track with Nodame and Chiaki trying to advance their music careers. Whether you're into it for the unique characters, the expressive performances, or both, this volume has it covered.
Mixed Vegetables's first volume leaves a pleasant but bland aftertaste ... not quite dramatic enough to be a great romance series, and not quite gourmet enough to be a great cooking series.

Although Million Tears boast a richly-described gothic sensibility that culminates in a warmly humanistic message, it is clear that Kazumi is still in the process of earning her creative chops here, and the manga, though intriguing in places, represents a wealth of missed opportunities.

Grounded in actual history and styled similar to Basilisk and Ninja Scroll, these first two volumes have no actual ninja in them. That doesn't prevent them from offering a solid and well-crafted, if pedestrian, excursion back to the bloody days of early 17th century Japan.
