Do not ask yourself what business a parallel universe fantasy about a bishounen whose touch causes plants to grow has been titled Silver Diamond. It just spoils the fun.

Oh My Goddess! (2nd Ed) GN 11
If the arrival of Peorth is supposed to signal a dramatic change in the Goddess franchise, well ... the signal is clearly a weak one.

After going out and getting remade as a mecha-saturated anime, The Seven Samurai wanders onto the printed page, where it realizes too late that it made a horrible mistake in its choice of manga artists.

Negima!? DVD 2
Young Negi and his charges in Class 3-A get into all sorts of further antics as they seek to escape the magical world they have been drawn into. Ultimately this version has all of the taste and substance of cotton candy; it can be sweet fun but certainly won't fill you up.

Battle Royale -Ultimate Edition- GN 2
For the most part, the three volumes anthologized in the Battle Royale -Ultimate Edition- track the overarching plot of the novel pretty closely. Indeed, they are among the most gripping on offer and thus sure to entertain.

Skip Beat! GN 18
This series is one of the best contemporary shoujo manga titles—hands down—that Viz Media is currently releasing in English. It is simply not to be missed…especially if you have a weakness for showbiz stories spiced up with a heroine's epic quest for vengeance.

Hunter X Hunter DVD Box Set 2
Brings the Hunter Exam to a close with—you guessed it—a tournament. As always it sounds pretty bad, and as always, it isn't.

Berserk GN 27
This installment doesn't pull off quite as much shock and awe as the last one, and the result is a rather pedestrian dose of hack-and-slash combat.

The Key to the Kingdom GN 4-6
It's quite the challenge to think of even a single negative thing to say about the The Key to the Kingdom mangaka, but after considerable deliberation, this reviewer is pleased to report that she has arrived at something: Kyoko Shitou makes the bulk of the contemporary mainstream shoujo manga-producing world look bad.

GUNxSWORD DVD 7
Ends well, seeding its final episodes with moments of honest excellence, plenty of Van screaming and chopping things up, and capping it all off with a nice little coda. Not great by any stretch, but often pretty darned good.
