Made in Heaven - Juri (manga)
Plot Summary:
After an accident, a young man named Kazemichi is given many prosthetic parts and told that he has been given a second chance at life. However, he is also told that his artificial heart has the possibility of giving out at any time. Kazemichi spends his days detached from the world until he meets a woman named Juri, and starts to once again regain feeling inside. Thus starts his search for the truths in his life - both the present and the past - as the end of his future draws startlingly near.

The problems with this second half are not enough to derail the show, but the experience is way less satisfying than it should be. Such is the power of its characters that I still can't help but love the whole package.
The manga version puts the focus back on the most interesting character: the Count himself. As a result, the plot reaches full steam in a very powerful way—but sadly gets derailed in the later chapters.
It's a film that defies any and all expectations of both medium and genre, that makes us marvel and has really little time to do much else.
